Marginal Utility is proud to present “Back to Nature,” an exhibition of the work by GAHEE PARK.

In her new collection of paintings, Gahee Park takes us back to nature, less as hikers in search of a view than as the contents of the sewer pipe, left to decompose back to its original state. The brightly rendered natural world is comic and cruel, and never natural. Cacti and jagged rock entwine with errant nails and blades. Her primitive figures try to crawl away or forage for insects, but Park’s amusingly ironic depictions leave little doubt that all attempts at escape and sustenance are hopelessly absurd.
