Scott Kip: Illuminated Structures
1 June – 29 July, 2012
Opening reception Friday, 1 June 2012, from 6 – 11 pm
Marginal Utility is pleased to present Illuminated Structures, an exhibition of new work by the Philadelphia based artist SCOTT KIP.
Kip employs the use of scale-model structures to build spatial metaphors for sentient life that depict the temporal spaces between birth and death. Between these two extremes we exist in the present moment and our view is constrained. We can only look from the narrow perspectives of forward or back. Kip’s room sized installations attempt to detach viewers from the constraints of fixed vantage points and allow them to wander around and experience the present moment from the outside.
